![]() It goes from too slow to too fast, and I often end up on the wrong places of the screen due to this: bear in mind that I've also played competitive FPS games back in the day so if I don't feel the mouse, even for work stuff, I go crazy. I'm using an MX Master 3(with the Mac specific version of the MX Keys keyboard) and no matter what I do, it feels "wrong". I'm liking the machine so far but there's one thing driving me crazy to the point I thought about returning it if I don't manage to fix it: the mouse acceleration.įor context I've been using Windows and Linux computers since I was a kid, and no matter which mouse or Windows/Linux version(or distro) I use I can always turn off mouse acceleration and the mouse "feels" the exact same on every OS.but not on Mac. I've recently bought a base model M1 Mac Mini to use as my new work-at-home machine(I do video editing in DaVinci Resolve, graphics with the Affinity suite and I code websites in VSCode). Hi everyone, I'm writing here because I need help from more experienced Mac users. Would I want mouse accel on? No I wouldn’t.(EDIT - I put an update on this issue at the end of this post) So I may be incorrect on saying you need to disable it in windows because maybe CSGo will remove entirely. ![]() I’ve just casually started gaming again and understand there’s some changes to the game to eliminate acceleration which is nice and the mouse movement is correct regardless of the speed it’s moving. The famous mouse_fix.zip that saved us from doing 180s on accident. When World Cyber Games and Cyber Professional League transitioned from windows98 to xp and acceleration was introduced to the windows OS we first hand had several issues with acceleration and ultimately a registry fix was introduced to solve these issues. Having mouse accel enabled in the game is going to increase your sensitivity depending on the rate the mouse is moving. Why would browsing with accel on effect muscle memory in a game? I use mouse accel on my PC at work and doesn’t have any ill effect on my gaming. ![]() If you want a consistent movement that matches your mouse movement regardless of how fast it’s being moved on the surface than all acceleration should be removed. I’m sure there’s several very good players who use mouse accel and could have positive benefits also. It’s ultimately what the player is comfortable with and feels most consistent with. Having good precise aim is going to be from muscle memory which could be negatively effected if the mouse movement changed depending on the speed it was moved across the mousepad. So if you were flicking at an object at a faster rate it could have a different effect on what your sensitivity would be moving more fluid. Acceleration will increase cursor distance depending on how quick the mouse is moved physically. So it is force of habit to make sure it’s always off. I played 1.5 / 1.6 years ago and didn’t have the options for rawinput or other console commands that could potentially remove acceleration without needing to do it in the OS or mouse software.
